Mabel's story
Extraordinary mabel
When Mabel was born, we quickly realized that our journey might look different than we had imagined. She underwent major heart surgery when she was just a baby, and there were moments when fear could have easily taken over.
But Mabel has taught us that hope is a choice we make every day. Instead of focusing on what she may or may not do in the future, we’ve learned to celebrate who she is right now. We’ve stopped comparing her timeline to others and started celebrating every step forward, no matter how big or small.
Hope has given us the freedom to dream for Mabel without placing limits on what she can achieve.
One of our favorite milestones has been watching Mabel become more independent on her feet. Every new step has represented so much more than movement. It has reflected months of determination, resilience, and hard work.
Watching her light up with pride after accomplishing something she’s been working toward makes us incredibly emotional. Those moments remind us that some of life’s greatest victories aren’t measured in giant leaps but more like “inchstones” that deserve to be celebrated just as much.
To us, championing possibility means believing in Mabel before the world places expectations on her.
It means seeing her diagnosis as just one small part of who she is, not the thing that defines her future. It means advocating for inclusion, celebrating every achievement, and creating a world where children with Down syndrome are given opportunities to learn, grow, belong, and thrive.
Championing possibility also means changing perceptions. We hope that by sharing Mabel’s journey, people see ability before disability and understand that every child has something to offer.
Mabel has changed our family for the better. She has taught us patience, gratitude, resilience, and the beauty of slowing down to celebrate life’s smallest moments.
Our hope is that when people meet Mabel—or follow her journey—they don’t simply see Down syndrome. They see a funny, determined, loving little girl with endless potential and who deserves every opportunity to write her own story.
We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate her and to be part of a community that continues to champion possibility for every child.
